Other Forms of NFL Betting

N/A - 10/01/08

Besides pointspread sides, over/under totals, and money line wagering there are a host of NFL betting alternatives for all gamblers to enjoy and profit from.

Other Forms of NFL Betting
Parlays are highly popular with both gamblers having huge bankrolls and those on a small budget as you can end up making big money with just a little bit of a stake.

Parlay NFL betting is when a gambler takes a group of individual plays, referred to as "teams," and groups them into a single wager in which all of the plays must win for the parlay to win and payoff at increased odds. If just one of the plays on the parlay loses, however, the entire parlay loses.

For example, if you have a five team parlay and win four of the five games, the parlay still loses.

Teaser NFL betting is similar to a parlay except that each pick used by the gambler has an enhanced pointspread or over under. For example, a team that is a pick'em on the regular line would be +6 on the teaser line. A total of 40 on the regular line would be an under of 46 or an over of 34 on the teaser line.

The traditional "Las Vegas Style" teasers have a 6-point difference but some "special teasers" go as high as 12-points. The tradeoff for the enhanced lines for teasers is that they payoff at lesser odds than with parlays.

Futures and props are highly popular forms of NFL betting in which you can take odds on a team to win the Super Bowl or conference championship. You can also wager on a team to go over or under a set number of wins for the regular season.

Props feature such items as how many yards will a player gain in a game, how many touchdowns a player will score, etc. Props are especially popular on Sunday night and Monday night feature games and the Super Bowl.

If variety is the spice of life, then NFL betting is as hot as it can get with a buffet of options for gamblers.
